Gambling, eating, spending money, and workaholism are psychological addictions in that the addicts believe that they must be involved in those particular activities to feel good or not to feel bad. Having experienced a sort of addiction at first hand in my family, I agree that addictions constitute a personal failure, which may result from moral weakness, low self-esteem, or inadequacy, and, most of the time, are nurtured by lack of discipline.
