New social values are oftentimes presented in radical literary works. While such literature is more stimulating and entertaining to the audience, it is futile to try and determine if it serves society better than conservative forms which merely reflect society's values.

If society was the ship of humanity in the sea of life, radical literature would be the sails, and conservative literature would be the rudder. Without one, there would be no motion and without the other there would be no direction. Too much of one can lead to crashing on the rocks while too much of the other can hamper forward motion.
