It was 11.40pm, on the 30th July 1997, 4 years ago, that it all came tumbling down. Most awoke thinking it was a fighter jet or a small explosion. They went outside to see what was happening and instead of a fighter jet, it was a 100 tonne landslide coming towards two of the lodges. …slope and the fact that the area has already had 4 major landslides in 20 years. In conclusion to this assignment I would like to state that the disaster could have been avoided but it is still believed that it was inevitable. It could have been avoided by the builders listening to the rangers and engineers. But it was inevitable because it was also said that it was an accident waiting to happen from the unstable ground.
