Dostoevsky leaves the story at sort of a dead end leaving the reader to derive his own conclusion. He denies the validity of the rationalist, and at the same time illustrates the unhappiness of a true romantic. So, were is the conclusion? What is the right philosophy to follow? Maybe this calls for a median of these two philosophies. Never can are life be calculations, and never can we live without others.
