…for one, believe that Homer, in writing of The Odyssey, used the character of Athena as an allusion to all religion. By making her into a storybook character, Homer was able to give Athena characteristics such as being able to guide, prophesize, and complete impossible tasks in order to emphasize the importance of religion in the everyday life of the common human being.
