The short takeoff and vertical landing option has allowed many countries to begin building light carriers which saves money by incorporating Harriers with helicopters on the same small deck space. Although the harrier will be phased out in the near future by the Joint Strike Fighter, I'm sure we'll all be dreaming of owning one and landing it in the backyard next to the pool.
