The effect the war had on the world was enormous. It marked an end for Europe domination of the world and encouraged decolonization and most importantly it saw the emergence of two powerful superpowers; the USA and the USSR. Though it seemed like peace had been achieved there was already unrest, rivalry and suspiscion between the two superpowers; the Cold War had begun.
