The Bloodiest Days in Georgia The bloodiest days in Georgia lasted two days, starting September 19, 1863. These bloody days are known as the battle of Chickamauga. The battle of Chickamauga took place near Reed's Bridge, Gordon's Mill, Lafayette Road, and the Chickamauga River. …Confederates victory. The battle of Chickamauga resulted in 28,500 deaths - 11,500 Union and 17,000 Confederate. Compared to other Georgia battles, that is a hefty amount! The battle of Kenesaw Mountain had 2,270 deaths 2,000 Union and 270 Confederate. Also, Fort Henry had a total of 50 deaths 34 Union and 16 Confederate. That is a big difference from the thousands of deaths in the battle of Chickamauga! That is why they were, according to history, two of the bloodiest days ever in Georgia!
