…minority opinion because even though the First Amendment says we have freedom of speech, it does not specify that we can illegally burn a flag in the middle of a city street. This action that Johnson thought was a very important point to make, was very offensive to many Americans. The American flag does not represent Ronald Reagan or the Republican party, it represents our country and our Constitution that Johnson used to protect himself.
