…the southern economy was supported by the invention of the cotton gin. The Dread Scott case confirmed the differing constitutional opinions in the government. Finally, people defending their view of wether slavery was moral or not was strengthened by the Fugitive Slave Act. With all of these factors compacted into such a short amount of time the nation started to divide. It was only a matter of time until slavery led to a Civil War.
