Although Romeo and Juliet believe that fate is controlling what happens in the play, the characters themselves are actually controlling it. The self-control of fate is what makes the play so intriguing. In the long run the two star crossed lovers cannot put the blame on fate, only the way they controlled their fate can be blamed.
