might seem odd at first, but they and other things like maggots are used today to clean some wounds after various types of surgery. Even the guild system was an earlier version of the unions that we have today. If people hadn't had these skills and trades with peasants and craftspeople that worked as hard as they did, life today would be similar to life in the Middle Ages.
