Germany was greatly affected by the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty took considerable amounts of territory and colonial possessions from Germany. The German military was also crushed by the treaty with so many restrictions that it was basically rendered useless. Germany also suffered tremendous economic effects from the Treaty, predominantly in the form of reparations. She lost much of the land for which she had fought hard to gain in building her empire. A military which had become the heart of all of Germany had been crushed. And the unpayable reparations would continue to plague Germany economically for many years.
