The social, cultural and political history of America as it affects the life course of American citizens became very real to us as the Delaney sisters, Sadie and Bessie, recounted their life course spanning a century of living in their book "Having Our Say." The Delaney sisters lives covered the period of their child hood in Raleigh, North Carolina, after the surrender of their adults lives in Harlem, New York City during the roaring twenties.

are different from each other. Another aspect that I enjoy was how the Delaney family truly loved each other. They did not had much, but they had each other. That is something one doesn't really see in a family today. The parents instilled good values in all of their children , which resulted in very successful children. This could be another aspect that one doesn't see as much from some families.
