…to the Oakland school board the methods used to teach these children English has proved to be insufficient, which sparked the creation of the Standard English Proficiency Program. The program has taught many teachers how to instruct Ebonics speaking students in English. I feel that this is a step in the right direction. Ebonics is a language that has no use in the work place or government and should therefore not be taught in school.
