The sudden turn towards politics and unity helped the colonists win the Revolutionary War against England. They formed congresses and new forms of self government. The Declaration of Independence was drafted and approved. In such a short amount of time, the views of the colonists shifted drastically simply because of the Enlightenment, taxes, and their extreme want for unification.
