The minorites in the British colonies had more rights than in any other, including Spanish. People had more rights, and played a role in making major decisions unlike the Spanish colonies where the crown and the church made all the decisions. Trade was free in the English colonies, and in South America was strictly regulated. In all of its aspects the English governemnt in the New World was much more democratic than in Spanish America.
