Although colonists came to America for many of the same reasons, the experiences they encountered were quite different. The quest for economic opportunity, religious freedom, and democratic lifestyle presented challenges to both the Chesapeake and New England colonies. …every man had a chance to own land, which proved that New England was the land of great opportunity. Both colonies had many significant differences that set them apart. I feel life in the New England colonies was a little better because they didn't have some of the negative issued that the Chesapeake had like malaria. Also they seem to have a strong Christian background which is always a good foundation for anything in life.
