Imperialism and capitalism. So their political policies were the same as a communist nation, a totalitarian state that has a dictator. Though, they were different in economic ways. Mao Zedong believed that only the communism was the only way to improve his country. So he didn't allow any part of capitalism. However, Deng Xiaoping insisted that it's necessary to accept practical way of capitalism to improve because the development couldn't be occurred suddenly, but gradually.
