A) I would define complexity as the degree of difficulty involved. As far as the childrens drawings are concerned, I would define complexity the number of facets in the drawings compared to the level of difficulty. Drawings which have simpler less obvious features will have been drawn by younger children and the pictures will become more involved or complex as their cognitive abilities develop.

a 6-7 year old. This is due to him suffering pervasive developmental disorder, ADHD and having hydrocephaleus. This was all brought on being being born very premature. For this reason I am very wary of so called stages of development and of expecting children to be at any certain level by a particular age. It also puts un-necessary strain on those to try to pigeon hole children into a certain stage in the life cycle.
