Knowing this Montresor lured Fortunato into the catacombs with a tale of Amontillado. Montresor had the place picked our that the bricks waiting. He also carried this trowel with him " from beneath the folds of my roquelaire a trowel." This allowed Montresor to get away with the perfect crime.
