Their case was heard on December 9, 1952, but the Supreme Court failed to reach a decision. It would not be until December 7, 1953 that the court again would take on the case. In 1953 President Eisenhower appointed Chief Justice Earl Warren to the Supreme Court in hopes that he would end the desegregation of public schools.
