There are some preventative laws that attempt to ensure that blacks receive fair treatment, such as affirmative action, but these laws cannot protect them from criminal offenses. The prejudices of people run deep, and no law or after-school TV special can change these views of ignorance. It may well take many more generations for this racism to flush itself out of American society, if it ever does at all.
