Within two years the Aztec empire in the Valley of Mexico was over thrown. The powerful Aztecs were finally defeated. Montezuma and many of his warriors had believed that Cortes was the god Quetzacoatl, returned as a white-skinned warrior to claim his kingdom. The old prophecy had come true!
