…perhaps millions. Even years after the bombs were dropped, the radiation continued to cause deadly diseases and various sicknesses, such as leukemia and bone cancer. Perhaps the atomic weapon should not have come about. The death toll alone was tremendous. The bomb has been further studied since its use in World War II, and today the effects of radiation are better understood. These advances will hopefully be used in ways of peace, and not war.
