…democracy. The saying "Rome wasn't built in a day" can be applied here, a true and complete democracy cannot be put together in a short period of time either. The Athenians got the ball rolling for future attempts at democracy and freedom and did an excellent job of providing a sold base for later civilizations to work from. The United States owes much to the Athenian radical democracy, as unperfected and rough as it was.
