But the problems were too great for his ageing mind. Einstein promoted Zionism, pacifism and, in a secret 1939 letter to Franklin D. Roosevelt, the construction of a uranium bomb. Einstein was cremated at Trenton, New Jersey April 18, 1955 the same day he died.
