Before the American Revolution numerous events changed the way
America is today. Two of these major events were pluralism and salutary neglect.

Later in 1774, Parliament passed a series of procedures designed to discip-
line the colonist. They closed the port of Boston until the city paid for the demo-
lished tea. At the same time, the Quartering Act allowed British commanders to
station troops in private homes, and the Quebec Act put much of the Ohio River
Valley into the province of Quebec. Colonists called these measures the
Intolerable acts.
