Throughout history there have been many revolutions where monarchs were removed from their thrones or countries have rebelled against the authority of the monarchs. This propaganda asserted that William only wanted to restore the Parliament and England's religious freedom. William and his followers aimed their propaganda at a broad section of English society, literate and non-literate Englishmen alike. The fact that William and his Army came to England and that he obtained the crown with little bloodshed is a testament to the effect of this propaganda.
