In this essay I will explore Siegfried Sassoon’s attitudes to war. Siegfried Sassoon detested war and so in 1917 started a crusade against fighting. In ‘The Hero’ Siegfried Sassoon uses contrasting stanzas to emphasise the harshness of the last stanza.
