In the novel by Ernest Hemingway, The Old Man and The Sea, Santiago is tested to see if he has the power to overcome all possible problems. Santiago is a much different kind of hero than we normally see in the movies or read about in books. He is a hero of great inner strength and a type we call can learn from.
