When most people think of euthanasia, they think merely of death. Death usually has a negative connotation to it, although at times it may be beneficial. The word "euthanasia" comes from the Greek word "thanatos," meaning death, and the prefix "eu," meaning well or easily. It can be defined as a gentle or easy death. Each dying patient should be free to choose euthanasia (or not), if they wish, simply due to personal liberty. The government should not have the right to tell another person what choice to make. Is it not true that we have an unalienable right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?" People should be free to live their lives as they think best.
