“The Patriot” was successful in developing an interesting fictional plot while keeping true to the realities of the Revolutionary War. Even the fictional parts of the movie were based on some real person or event or a combination of a few actual occurrences. As a whole this movie was exceptionally truthful to American history and rarely strayed from a real event or something that could have occurred at that time.
