…it is not hard to see that they each played an unrealistic role. Chanticleer shamed the title of being a man by his lack of leadership and his submissiveness. Pertelote was too trusting of strangers, and ended up almost losing her life to a supposedly friendly fox. And last, the fox was too sure of himself and his motives by thinking that he could get anything he wanted if he just used a little charm.
