America is interesting. It captures the imagination and attention of the world but almost all of the attention it receives is negative. Just as a pious, American citizen believes that being kind to your fellow man, and being a good citizen is essential to being an ideal American. Malcolm believed that what he was doing was essential to being an ideal American, or an ideal person.
