…the different sources describe Noah’s family. The Yahwist source simply says Noah and his household (Genesis 7:1). The Priestly source goes into much more detail. It names Noah’s three sons and speaks of their wives (Genesis 6:10; 7:7). Furthermore, as the creatures and Noah leave the ark, they all leave “as families.” Even this, priests must have thought, could reassure people that as long as they stayed faithful God would see them through this hard time.
