Four people founded Sun Microsystems, Incorporated in February 1982. Two of them were Stanford MBA graduates – Scott McNealy and Vinod Khosla. A third member of the group was a Stanford engineering graduate named Andreas Bechtolsheim. The final member of the group was a UNIX software expert named William Joy who was from the Berkeley campus.
