Thoughts/Summery of Sula The novel starts out as introducing a man named Shadrack. He served in WWI, and returns to his hometown of the Bottom. The Bottom is a black community in Ohio that rests in the hills above the white community of Medallion. …showed last 75 words of 1021 total…mentioned Shadrack in the beginning, and he really didn’t have that big a part to do with the novel itself. The whole novel to me wasn’t interesting and didn’t keep my attention. The story base was good, but I didn’t like how things jumped around, and how confusing it was when new characters were introduced and never used again. This book was definitely not one of the best I have read.
