In “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight”, Gawain stays at a castle in which three hunts take place. These three hunts are associated with the temptations made at Gawain by Lord Bercilak’s wife. In each hunt scene, a characteristic of the prey of that hunt is personified in Gawain’s defense against the temptations brought upon by the Lord’s wife.
