Progressivism was a period of American history in which improving
working conditions, the way of life, exposing corruption, expanding democracy and
making reforms was the main idea of this period. Many of the citizens granted and
demanded a change in numerous areas such as business, labor, economy, consumers and

spoke out for suffrage for women and equal rights for black people. It also benefited
children and helped education arise. For example, President Teddy instituted a child
protection law, this protected children from working in factories . He also tried to put
children in schools instead of working, which I thought was a great idea. Children and
