Pluto....A Controversial Planet!
Pluto is a very controversial planet. The reason for this is because it's a dark and distant planet and it's hard to study it clearly enough to be satisfied. Pluto was discovered in 1930 by an astronomer by the name of Clyde Tombaugh. Then James Christy and Robert Harrington discovered Pluto had a satellite, they named it Charon. It is too bad that Pluto is the only planet that hasn't been visited by a spacecraft, because we think that it would be interesting to go on and learn more about this mysterious planet, and its moon. In the 1980's Pluto and Charon went through sets of mutual eclipses in which each passed in front of each other repeatedly for several years. That pattern can be seen from earth every 124 years.
