This week in class we read two chapters in the Out of Many book. The first chapter was mainly related to the history of slavery beginning in Africa. It talked about how as resources were found in the land that slaves always seemed to follow. It provided a brief history of West Africa. …the strict code of living and the notion that everyone was required to attend the Puritan church. This caused the great awakening to start taking shape. Churches, instead of using strict codes of living and force to gain membership, were now tailoring to people’s emotions. The chapter leaves us with religion tension in England, Indians being enslaved in the New World, and shows the beginning of a huge population increase in the New World.
