Oedipus’s overwhelming pride blinds him both physically and mentally. He is blind in the mental sense because he is unable to put the pieces of the puzzle together until it is too late. In the end Oedipus blinds himself by gouging him eyes out as a punishment. His tragic flaw, pride, leads to his fall from power, and eventually his demise.
