…war went on, many people suffered including the Meekers. It was very hard for the Meekers to run the tavern with little cattle and small amounts of money. Unfortunately, this problem was solved with two terrible tragedies, the death of Sam and his father. At the end of the book, not only what’s left of the Meeker family but most of the people in the 1770’s realized that this war should have never occurred.
