going. Macbeth compares manliness with aggression and his comparison allows the play
to descend into a mass killing spree. Macduff changes the audience’s perspective on the
definition of manliness. Macduff revises the previous definition of manliness and brings
forth a new one. By his strong words and actions, he shows that manliness is not about
aggression, but rather being human and having feelings.
