Edward Taylor Journal I selected “The Experience” by Edward Taylor. I think that I picked it because when I read it, I felt like I knew what he was talking about in a sense. Maybe it is because it is very similar to the journal that we recently did about our own spiritual experience. I feel that the narrator of the poem is declaring his love for god. …that has strayed from the path of righteousness, and now he has seen where he is heading. He now has found his way again, down the path of god to all that is holy. The poem is written as if the narrator were speaking to his god. The fact that it is like a conversation further reinforces the fact that this man has had an epiphany, and is now closer to his god for it.
