Although I consider myself to highly enjoy the act of reading and writing, I do not usually look forward to reading the introductions to works of literature, as I most often find the task to be somewhat tedious, and needless. However, on reviewing the Introduction to Ways of Reading by Petrosky and Bartholomae, I found it to be surprisingly absorbing, as it described the ultimate purpose of the text book anthology we (students)

students, as the personal experiences from which we draw ideas from will be at variance from one person to the next. However, I am confident in the fact that the ideas I have drawn hold an element of validity, as re-reading and posing questions throughout the text offered a great deal of information that I had formerly missed. In this way, I look forward to applying the method of strong reading to my studies ahead.
