…like animals in the past, you can’t help but acknowledge their strength throughout history. The caged bird was symbolic of a chained slave in the beginning of the story, but in the end, it was free to fly over vast lands and soar the endless skies. It was a brilliant concept of Maya's though she may not have thougt about it to to depict the story of the black peoples struggles through her own.
