History of Olympics
The Olympic Games began at Olympia in Greece in 776 B.C. The Greek calendar was based on the Olympiad, it came every four years. Olympia was in the valley of Elis. Here Greeks put up statues and temples for their god Zeus. People believe that the games in 776 B.C were not the first, but just the first organized games of it’s kind.

Olympic Flag
The Olympic Flag was created by Pierre de Coubertin in 1914, it contains five interconnected rings on a white background. The five rings symbolize the five continents around the world. The colours were chose because at least one of them appeared on the flag of every country in the world. The flag was first flown during the 1920 Olympics.
