If the children were able to speak openly with their parents there would be no need for secrets. This play is made up of Juliet's secrets with her parents. It is Juliet's secret marriage to Romeo which started this tragedy. It was mainly this secret which lead to Juliet's desperation, that lead her to take the sleeping potion without thinking things through clearly.
